CRT Framework

Mathematics & Reading
Overview
Beginning the 2005-2006 school year, the federal No Child Left Behind Act requires all states to test all students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and once in high school (grade 10 under Wisconsin law s 118.30). These test scores are referred to as the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination Criterion-Referenced Tests (WKCE-CRT) and will replace WKCE reading and mathematics tests beginning in fall 2005. Student performance on these tests is reported in proficiency categories and used to determine the adequate yearly progress of students at the school, district, and state levels. Summative information regarding student performance on statewide assessments an be found at www.dpi.state.wi.us/sig/index.html.
These customized criterion-referenced reading and mathematics tests will be developed and vertically scaled over grades 3 through 8 and grade 10 by CTB/McGraw-Hill.
