Mike Steen has been teaching orchestra in Waunakee since 2010.  His first experience with orchestra was when he picked up a cello during the summer before starting 5th grade.  After a couple of months playing cello, he decided he wanted to go bigger, and picked up the bass.  He has rarely put it down since.  Mike attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he majored in instrumental and general music education.  When he is not making music with his students, Mike enjoys playing bass and bass guitar with a variety of groups and friends, attending a variety of concerts, experimenting in the kitchen and baking sweet treats he knows he shouldn't eat, reading about a wide variety of things, mountain and road biking, rollerblading, catching Brewers and Packers games, and visiting with family and friends.
