It's time for BAND-O-RAMA!!!

  • Students arrive at 6 pm
    • 7th grade Band: enter HS Music Suite at door 27: go to ORCHESTRA ROOM as your Homeroom
    • 8th grade Band: enter HS Music Suite at door 27: go to CHOIR ROOM as your Homeroom
    • 6:20: all bands in place in Field House to rehearse mass band song.
  • Concert begins at 7 pm
  • Concert ends at 8:15; students return w/ instruments & stands to Homeroom; return to Field House to help with equipment before leaving with parents.

• WHAT IS IT??

BAND-O-RAMA is a musical EXTRAVAGANZA hearkening back to the massive band concerts at the turn of the century.  In the days of John Philip Sousa, Patrick Gilmore, and Hellen May Butler, HUGE musical events were held gathering thousands of musicians. Band leader Patrick Gilmore organized an event in 1869 with 1,000 instrumentalists &10,000 singers, with sound effects from cannons, all performing in a hall especially designed for the occasion.

Around the US today, you will see Universities and communities celebrating music with a BAND-O-RAMA!  Our event will feature ALL Band students in Waunakee from grade 6 through 12.  We will gather in the WHS Field house and perform in a "round-robin" format where each band takes a turn, from our 6th Grade Beginning Band, both MS Bands, and both the HS Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble. Parents and audience alike will be entertained and astounded by the musical growth demonstrated as each Band performs.

We will conclude the concert with a colossal Mass Band performance---all 490 students joining together on a selection that is perfect for the occasion: "Band-o-Rama March"!

We are pleased to present a return to Band-o-Rama in Waunakee. Our last event was in 1998----celebrating 75 years of Music Education in Waunakee!  We are sure that the 2011 will be spectacular----an event you will not wish to miss!
