Elementary Tour

On odd-numbered years, the Waunakee Middle School Band takes a field trip to perform for the Waunakee Community Elementary Schools. This "Goodwill Tour" is designed to introduce the younger students to the fun & excitement of playing in the band! The Middle School Band parades in playing our Memorial Day march and drum cadence and then sets up to entertain the students with fun, recognizable songs. Middle School Band students join the Elementary students to dance the polka (On Wisconsin), the Hokey-Pokey, and the Chicken Dance. We challenge the students to join us on our version of BINGO, and finish with the ever-popular Let's Go Band! There is always time at the end for Q & A, and to let the Elementary students get an up-close look at the instruments.

Schedule for 2009 Elementary School Tour: Thursday, June 4th

· 8:15 students report to the band room to rehearse & line up

· 8:45 load buses by row; go to Arboretum Elementary School

· 9:15-9:30 set up/ rehearse to “parade in”

· 9:30-10:00 perform at Arboretum Elementary School

· 10:00-10:15 time to relax; students bring a Nutrition Break snack;

· 10:30 load buses; go to Heritage Elementary School

· 11:00-11:45 perform at Heritage Elementary School during the Field Day

· 12:00-12:45 picnic lunch at Heritage Elementary School

Students will bring a sack lunch; we’ll find some shade to relax

· 12:45 load buses; go to PRAIRIE Elementary School

· 1:00-1:30 perform at PRAIRIE Elementary School

· 1:45 load buses; go to Centennial Park

· 1:50-2:20 relax at Centennial Park

· 2:20 load buses & return to the Middle School

In the event of bad weather, the trip is cancelled with no rain date.
