Students in 7th and 8th Grade Band receive a letter grade on their report card each quarter. Grades are earned at each band rehearsal and each lesson. Most students in MS Band earn some kind of an "A" for their work each quarter!

Band students get a Progress Report at every Lesson!!
Students are required to bring their PRACTICE RECORD to every lesson. During the lesson, practice times are entered into the gradebook, and the most current grade is recorded on the Practice Record. In this way, Band students (and parents) can monitor their grade and make sure they are earning the grade they desire! Students are also made aware of the importance of INDIVIDUAL PRACTICE---it has a dramatic impact on how well they play lesson assignments, and a big impact on their quarter grade!
Daily Rehearsal Skills:
Students in WMS Band have group rehearsals every-other day. This time is extremely valuable! Our rules and rehearsal point system are in place for one reason: to help all individual members participate fully, and to promote a safe & welcoming learning environment.
