Everything you need to know for the Memorial Day Parade!!

The final combined performance of the year for the MS Band is the Memorial Day Parade and Observance at Village Park. This performance is a very important public service as we honor the Veterans of our community. The idea of community service through performance is stressed in Band: we are very fortunate to have community support for our band program and it is vital that we show our appreciation by performing well on Memorial Day.

Uniform:
·       Purple band shirt----tucked in & sleeves down;
·       If it is cold, wear something purple under your band shirt. You will need to be able to roll the sleeves up when we perform so that the shirt underneath is “invisible.”
·       Khaki/ white/ tan shorts, capris, or pants:
·       No short-shorts! Be sure they reach to mid thigh. You need pockets to carry music & lyres.
·       No shorts hanging below the hips!  Use a belt if your shorts are loose.
·       Athletic shoes (prefer white); Short white socks or footies;
·       No jewelry.  Sunglasses will be allowed if they are plain (boring). If you don’t need the sunglasses, you will need to carry them during the parade (pockets).
·       Hair: long hair will be most comfortable pulled back into a ponytail, with “whispies” clipped in place.  Plain hair bands & clips, please.

Remember to bring
:
instrument, lyre, music for Star Spangled Banner & Eternal Father.

9:00                 Chaperones: please report to the MS Band Room for a quick meeting. You will

9:30                 Load all instrument cases on the trailer & get in formation.
Line up, take attendance and run through final instructions.
