Hello! My name is Marcy Peters-Felice, the principal of Waunakee Community Middle School! As a member of a truly phenomenal team of educational leaders, I look forward to working with students, families, and community members in meeting the needs of our students while creating meaningful and lifelong relationships!

Twenty-six years ago, as a registered nurse on the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago, I was reassigned from a pediatric unit to a geriatric one. After futile attempts to have my assignment changed back to pediatrics, I made the decision to go into the field of education as it would allow me to permanently work with children. At the same time, my significant other started attending the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (UW-O).

Leaving my parents and siblings behind, I enrolled at the UW-O where I obtained my degree in Elementary Education and Learning Disabilities. Having spent my entire life on an island with two seasons (dry and wet), needless to say, Wisconsin presented unique and interesting challenges for me. For quite a number of years, I felt that each season changed just as I was getting used to it. What an adjustment I had to make!

Several years later and married and with a son, I started my teaching career in the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) as a special education teacher. After seven years, I decided to transfer and become a math and science teacher. During this time, I pursued and obtained a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Director of Instruction. After twelve years in the classroom, I then worked for two years as a Parent/School Liaison and a School Improvement specialist at the MMSD administration building. It was about this time that I got bitten by the administration bug and applied for a principal position at Webster Stanley Middle School in Oshkosh.

In June 2006, I began a weekly travel between Madison and Oshkosh. Rows and rows of corn fields as well as the transformations in the landscape as the seasons changed kept me intrigued for four years. As each year rolled into another, I became more and more entrenched in the Oshkosh community but continued to dread Sundays as it meant I had to make that trip and leave my family behind until the VERY short weekend rolled along.

Working in the Waunakee community is exciting to me on a number of levels. Not only do I get to be with my family on a daily basis, but I also get to work in a district I hold in high esteem. It is with much excitement and passion that I approach this position and hope to get to know many of you as I learn about and celebrate the culture of the only Waunakee in the world!

I love music and LOVE to go dancing with my husband! I enjoy reading … I will read just about anything that is put in front of me. We enjoy long walks with our beagle and quiet times in our backyard. I am very much a simple woman who enjoys the finer things in life … family and good friends!

I look forward to many years of creating and maintaining lifelong relationships with many of you. I long to share my passion about student learning and understand the fabric of the Waunakee community!
