7th grade Communication Arts with Ms. Rydzewski

Welcome to the 7^th grade Communication Arts webpage for the GEMS!  We hope you take some time to explore our webpage.  Feel free to ask any of the GEMS students or myself if you would like to know more about what we are learning.  We have fun while learning life-long reading and writing strategies.  We also learn techniques for giving speeches, holding discussions, listening, and speaking.  We believe that the strategies we learn and practice in communication arts class are strategies we will use all of our lives.  Feel free to contact me at any time at rrydzewski@waunakee.k12.wi.us.

Our classroom goals are:      

 1.  Improve our reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to become effective 21^st century learners.

 2.  Meet or exceed each student’s individual target growth goals on the reading and language usage sections of the MAP test.

  More about Ms. Rydzewski:

• This is my 6th year at Waunakee Community Middle School.
• I earned my National Board Certification for Teaching in 2011.
• I was selected as Wisconsin's Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2009-2010.
• During the 2008-2009 school year, I was honored to win the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship.
• In 2005-2006 I taught English as a Second Language in Middleton, Wisconsin.
• I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May of 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Childhood-Early Adolescent Education.
• I studied at the Spanish American Institute in Seville, Spain in 2002-2003.
• I grew up in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
