My responsibilities are conducting the Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Lessons and Solo-Ensembles (middle and high school). I conduct Jazz Ensemble 1 and Jazz Combo and teach a Music Theory/Tech. class first semester. I've been teaching at Waunakee since 1983-'84.
I was born and raised in Montello, WI, received my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Master's in Music from Western Michigan University and a certification in administration from Cardinal Stritch University. I am an alumnus of the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps from La Crosse, WI. I also direct the "Joyful Noise" at the First Presbyterian Church of Waunakee. I play my alto sax with "All That Jazz" Big Band from the Madison, WI area.
Hobbies include family history in Montana, Native American and African American history, Jazz, Funk/R&B music and spending time with my wonderful wife and adopted dogs.
Thank you to some special people in my past and present: Robert Churchill, JoAnn and Milford Schwitz, Dennis Schrimpf, Dr. John Alexander, Dr. Robert Wessler, Dr. Richard O'Hearn, Jan Tweed, Jack Reed, Laura Love, Norm Parsons and Kirk Morledge.
Special thanks to the Montana Bandmaster's for letting me participate in their "Rendezvous" music workshop in beautiful Seeley Lake as well as Sherry Linnerooth and Jerry Arthun at Eckroth Music in Bozeman and Billings. This is an excellent professional development opportunity with great educators in a gorgeous setting!!

My responsibilities are conducting the Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Lessons, Solo-Ensembles and team teaching 7th & 8th Grade Band with Mrs. Gina Braun, 7th grade percussion lessons and several other middle school lessons. I will be teaching Music Appreciation 2nd semester at the high school.
I was born in Racine, WI and I'm a "Wisconsinite" through and through. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and my Master's in Music Education-Jazz Studies from Arizona State University. After teaching middle school band for a semester in Arizona and deciding the summer heat was a bit much, we moved to Chicago, IL. I taught middle school band in Chicago from 2005 - 2008.
While this was a great experience, it was time to move back to Madison. We moved back in August of 2008 and I taught college courses at Madison Area Technical College for a semester.
Outside of music, my hobbies include running, fishing, hunting, puzzles, and spending time with my family - my amazing wife, LeeAnne and our "baby" Newfoundland - Boris.
I look forward to the opportunity to teach the students everyday. Teaching is a passion of mine and there's nothing else I'd rather be doing with my life. Not everybody gets to go to work each day and say they get to PLAY music.
