Eric Carle is a well-known author and artist of children's books.  Students discussed this art career before designing their own animal collage in Carle's style.  They enjoyed the freedom of creating texture papers and the challenge of making their collages sculptural.  Animals were chosen for characteristics similar to those held by the student artist.  Inspirational quotes were added to enhance the meaning of the artworks.
