Studens learned about gargoyles and grotesques found on many Gothic buildings across Europe.  They also looked as some modern modern gargoyles in America.  Students watched clips from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame for inspiration before designing their sculptures.  They learned that grotesques are like gargoyles, but do not serve as drain spouts.  They concentrated on designing gargoyles/gargoyles that had unique personalities and dynamic features.  Students used pencil to do value drawings of their finished sculptures.
