Students analyzed Grant Wood's painting "American Gothic" before creating a parody of the artwork.  They discussed Regionalism, symbolism, facial proportions, and the difference between parody and plagiarism before drawing their ideas for a makeover of the famous painting.  Students enjoyed updating the well-known painting and some students were able to attribute very deep and meaningful symbolism to their artwork.  Written reflections showed just how thoughtful these young artists are!
