Students were surprised to see a big pile of shoes in the middle of the floor when they walked in to the art room one morning. (Shoes had been collected from teachers who were doing some spring cleaning!) Students were asked to pick a shoe (or a pair of shoes) from the pile and think about what type of person it might represent. Then they had to collect objects that could be glued onto the shoe that would help illustrate "who" the shoe belonged to. We used metallic spray paint to finish the sculptures, and they made quite an impact on everyone who saw them.
