Welcome to Heritage Elementary!

As principal of Heritage, I am very proud and excited about all of the things that the talented staff and students are doing here!  A balanced high priority is placed on both student personal-social growth and academic growth.  This is accomplished through strong staff collaboration within a professional learning community design.  At Heritage a strong team philosophy is the foundation of our service to students. 

This year Heritage is in our first year of being a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) school.  Our theme to support our PBIS work is:  Heritage STaRRs.  Yes, we know that is the incorrect spelling for “star”, but as a STaRR we are Safe Trustworthy and Respectful Responsible students.  As the students work on these four main values, they also learn specific behaviors (identifying both the appropriate behaviors and the not so appropriate behaviors) using a modified version of Corwin Kronnenberg’s Above the Line behavioral program.  The pairing of the PBIS and Above the Line efforts as served our students well.

Academically, we place high priority on developing well-rounded learners. Staff work continuously to effectively differentiate to students’ needs.  Ongoing professional development combined with teaming within/across grade levels and departments allow our staff to provide top rated instruction.

Our partnership with families and parents is most important to our success.  The success of the school would be far less without the support of the parents and community members who volunteer their time, whether it is helping with small group instruction, leading/helping/attending PTO events, chaperoning trips, or a variety of other volunteer opportunities.  Heritage students are fortunate to get a lot of parent support!
