Waunakee High School Mission and Vision Statements

WAUNAKEE HIGH SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT:

Preparing all *learners today to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

WAUNAKEE HIGH SCHOOL VISION STATEMENT:

The high school community will create a safe, supportive environment where all learners are expected to engage in a learning process in which they are challenged to achieve their highest potential. This process will foster growth in these areas: intellectual, social/emotional, physical and ethical.

Intellectual: All learners will acquire knowledge which leads to the development of critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills. These skills will be applied to handling novel situations and understanding complex problems. Learning will be grounded in discovery, creation, application, and mastery.

Social/Emotional: In an inclusive and welcoming environment, all learners will demonstrate behavior that respects differences and similarities within the school and community. Learners will practice collaborating and cooperating with others in a variety of settings and will be supported in exploring opportunities which advance learning and innovation.

Physical: All learners will acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to develop the habits which contribute to the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. An environment that promotes physical wellness will be created, so all learners will understand and demonstrate the benefits of sound nutrition and regular physical activity.

Ethical:  All learners will engage in respectful behavior towards others. While pursuing high standards for academic and personal integrity, learners will model honesty, character development, and right action in the absence of authority.

Growth from successes and failures will be valued in the learning community

* Learners are defined as students, staff and parents.
