Pre-Season Parent/Athlete Meeting:
An informational meeting will be held for all interested Waunakee High School girls and boys interested in the High School Alpine Race Team in the Small Auditorium on November 10, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Parents should attend with their student. The ski team is open to all interested high school students. Prior race experience is not required to join the team.
1st practice: TBA (Practice is every Thursday night from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cascade Mountain)
Races are held every Monday night from 5:30-8:30 PM, bus transportation is provided by the school and is chaperoned by a parent volunteer.
The ski team requires only basic skiing skills. Instruction and practice is provided by USSA and PSIA certified coaches and instructors. Emphasis is placed on skiing skill development through practice and racing through slalom and giant slalom courses, and team cooperation.
The Waunakee High School Ski Team competes with 9 area High School teams. The boys and girls teams have gone to the State Meet at LaCrosse Mountain numerous times where individuals can advance to the National competition level.
The goal of this program is to promote advancement in skill, developing friendships and responsibility and to have a lot of fun on the snow.
