Waunakee Community High School offers three different types of work based learning opportunities. They are: Employablility Skills, State Certified Co-op, and Youth Apprenticeships. Each of these programs can be very beneficial to students. However, they take a considerable amount of prior planning before being admitted. It is very important that studetns work with their School Counselor and School-to-Career Coordinator to successfully plan necessary coursework.
Employability Skills Certificates is an opportunity for students to showcase they have mastered the employability skills which are valued by employers. The State Certified Co-op Program is an opportunity for students to work with local business and industry partners to learn specific skills related to a particular career field. Wisconsin's Youth Apprenticeship program is designed for students who want hands on learning in a specific occupational area at a worksite along with related school instruction. This is a one or two year program that combines paid on the job experience with two semesters of related instruction. Students interested in a two year program start during Junior year.
