H1N1 Influenza Information

Students, parents, guardians, staff, and community members:

The Waunakee Community School District is working collaboratively with a variety of experts and agencies to implement our plan for dealing with potential issues related to the current outbreak of H1N1 Influenza.  Throughout the year we work collaboratively on planning and implementation of safety activities with our local Community Interagency Safety Committee, the Department of Public Instruction, Dane County Department of Emergency Management, Wisconsin Emergency Management, Madison-Dane County Public Health, the American Red Cross, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and local experts.

We are continuing our ongoing efforts to encourage students and staff to frequently and effectively wash hands.  Hand washing is one of the best defenses against infection of any type!  Parents, please keep children who are ill home until they are healthy enough to be in school with others.  We will share current and accurate information as it becomes available.

To the right you will find helpful links that provide excellent information for all. For an overview in question/answer format, please see this FAQ page from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). I encourage you to review the information.

If we can provide more information, or if you have questions, please let us know.
