Drama

View photos from the school performances of this year's drama, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory!

From the Activities Handout:

Held:                            September — early December

Performance:                December, High School Auditorium.  Please see the website and watch for announcements.

Parent Meeting:             To be announced

Practices:                     3:30-5:00 p.m. the first 4-5 weeks

3:30-5:30 p.m. the last two weeks:  everyday for cast, 1-2 times a week for crew

(until last two weeks which are then every day).

Location:                      High School Auditorium

Performances:              Two-three dress rehearsals and one-two parent performance

Requirements:               Only 8th graders.  Meets criteria stated in the Middle School Co-Curricular

Handbook.  Regular attendance is required of all cast and crew members.

Students in minor roles in the play who desire to be involved in other co-curricular activities must adjust their schedules in other activities to insure they are available for practices and performances.  They are responsible for communicating their practice and performance schedules to other advisors/coaches/directors.

Students cast in MAJOR roles may not be a part of any other fall/winter co-curricular

due to the time commitment and the demands of the role.  We work to give a variety of students’ roles in our musical and drama.  Although it does not always work out, we strive to minimize having one or two students repeatedly having lead roles in the fall drama and spring musical.   Students/parents need to be aware that if a student is not assigned a major role in the fall drama, the child is not guaranteed a major role in the spring musical.  Also, if a child does not try out for the fall drama with the hope of having a major role in the spring musical – a role in the musical is not guaranteed.  The cast of the musical may be a part of the crew in the drama.  Likewise, the crew from the musical may be part of the cast in the drama.  Crew members may be a part of both crews.

Description:                  Provide an opportunity to perform an entertaining full-length play without specific training, acting or crew experience.

Cast:  Learn speaking parts and actions.

Crew:  Plan and build the set; promote the play through creating and hanging

posters; run the lights and sound; and pull the curtain during the performances.

Contact:                        To be determined.  Please see website and/or contact the MS office at 849-2060.
