Introduction:
Although it may look like simply summer time fun, the Waunakee Summer Gateway Academy serves to prepare girls for the academic rigors of high school and beyond. The focus is on science, technology, engineering, and math. Critical thinking and team problem solving are emphasized and will create memories and skills that will last a lifetime.
Getting started:
Each day begins with fun activities like the human knot, string the ring, golf tower, back to sculpting, campus tour, newspaper shelter, traffic jamb and the telephone game.
Project Based Learning and Fun:
After the early activities, campers go on to work individually and in teams on much larger projects like the eggstronaut, marine transportation, 3D modeling on Inventor, and using RoboPro to computer program and Fischertechnik materials to create a simulated thumbwrestling competion.
Mark your calendars:
Summer will be here before you know it. If your child is entering seventh, or eighth grade next year, she will be eligible to participate in this two week long camp.
