Goal/Purpose:
- This program provides academic support for selected 7th and 8th grade students.
- The purpose is to provide support to foster academic success and build skills for independence.
Nature of Students:
- This program is designed for students needing extra support in the following areas:
- Academic skills
- Study skills
- Motivation
- Work completion
- Organization
Number of Students Served:
- A maximum of 25 7th and 8th graders are chosen for this program.
Services Provided:
- Asset building and resiliency leadership skills
- Service learning
- Social skills development
- Study skills/note-taking skills/test-taking skills
- Transition - Self advocacy skill development
- Collaboration between Horizons and core teachers to foster success
- Daily resource hour with Horizons teacher focusing on work completion and reinforcement of lessons
- Home/school communication
- Team taught 7th grade Communication Arts
