Welcome to the LMTC!

Welcome to the Learning Materials & Technology Center from Mr. Eric Noah and Ms. Jackie Peterson!  The LMTC is the school library, AV and computer resource for the Middle School.  It's a great place to learn, do research and explore your interests.

Our two main pages besides this page are Tools for Research and Books & Reading. Visit them for many, many more resources.  And don't forget to use Destiny, our online library catalog, to search our book and audiobook collection!

What's New: The Newbery list has been updated; a new book order came in on March 8th; The Multicultural List has been updated with new award-winning books.

Hours of Operation: 7:30am - 4:00pm, occasionally closed 12:25-1:00; as always, students need a pass to be in the building before school (pick one up in the main office or arrange ahead of time), but may visit the LMTC after school without a pass

Learn More About Our LMTC: Play games and take quizzes at Mr. Noah's Quia page. Visit the MS LMTC YouTube channel for instructional videos.

Logging In to Destiny:

Finding Fiction Genre Books:

Using Lexile to Find Books That Match Your Reading Ability:

Finding Biography Books:

Circulation for Students:

  • Books, including audiobooks, circulate for 3 weeks.
  • Current magazines circulate for the hour only.
  • Back issues of magazines circulate for 1 week.
  • Reference books circulate overnight.
  • You may have up to three library books and two magazines checked out at one time.
  • You may use your Destiny account to renew your own items, with some limitations: you must do the renewal before the item goes overdue; and you can only self-renew each item one time (if you need a 2nd renewal please see the library staff).

Fines for students:

  • Fines for overdue materials accumulate at a rate of two cents per day overdue. However, there are three ways to pay off an overdue fine: pay the money; tell us a joke; or do a small amount of labor.
  • The fine for a lost item is equal to the cost of replacing the item. We can only accept money or replacement of the lost item as payment for lost items.
  • Damage to LMTC materials can bring a fine between $1-10. Again, only money or a replacement item can pay for damaged items.

Overdue notices are delivered to students twice a week in homerooms.  Students are also encouraged to log in to their Destiny account regularly to review their current transactions and upcoming due dates.

LMTC Rules:

  • When you sign out from homeroom, you shouldn't stop anywhere along the way to the LMTC (for example, restroom or locker).
  • Always bring something constructive to do. Homework is an excellent choice!
  • Computers are to be used for school work only. Don't sit at a computer station if you don't need it. Students abusing their computer privilege will lose it.
  • You must get permission and be supervised in order to use the Internet at school.
  • Sit at a table by yourself to start with. If we run out of room, we'll allow some students to sit two to a table as needed.  We occasionally allow students to work together for a short time, but you must ask first. The LMTC is a quiet study area, not a socializing area.
  • When you come to the LMTC from homeroom, you must stay for the entire period unless you are on a separate pass for a quick task such as finding a book or paying a fine.
  • When you leave the LMTC, please push in your chairs and pick up any paper on the floor around you.
  • The LMTC is open from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. If you need to use the LMTC before school, you will need to get a pass from Ms. Peterson ahead of time, or pick up a laminated pass from the main office in the morning before you come upstairs. You don't need a special pass to use the LMTC after school.
