Prairie Elementary School is excited to launch a new program called WATCH D.O.G.S. ® (Dads OGreat Students). WATCH D.O.G.S. ® is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life. Our goal is to have fathers and fatherfigures spend at least one day a year at the school to be a positive male role model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears. During the day, WATCH D.O.G.S. ®  may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, patrol the school entrances and hallways, and other activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.

Are you interested in joining our WATCH D.O.G.S. ®  team? Click here to sign up.

If you have questions or want more information please contact Katie Grundahl, Associate Principal, at katiegrundahl@waunakee.k12.wi.us

Safety in the Crosswalk

We want to thank everyone for keeping our fourth grade safety patrollers safe by consistently respecting the safety patrol stop signs and proceeding through intersections after the patroller or children are back on the curb.

Your safe actions help avoid dangerous situations and help to keep our children from getting hurt or some-one from receiving a traffic citation. Safety patrollers and the adult crossing guard have been instructed to take down the license plate numbers of those who ignore the signs by entering the crosswalk while it is still occupied. The plate number will be given to the police who will in turn contact the offenders who may be issued a citation.

Again, thank you for proceeding cautiously around school crosswalks and for your help to keep our students safe!
