Purpose - To coordinate district curriculum and programs. To serve as a means of disseminating and collecting information by departments. Coordinate the selection of textbooks. Periodically meet as the Leadership Team to discuss broader district issues.
Frequency - Monthly or more frequently as needed.
Membership - Director of Instruction (chair), Assistant Director of Instruction and the chairpersons of the following district departments:
- Math
- Science
- Health/Safety/PE
- Music
- World Languages
- Special Education
- Pathways
- Communication Arts
- Social Studies
- Art
- Career and Technical Education (CTE)
- Student Support Services
- Library, Media & Technology Services
- Reading
The building principals, the Director of Student Services the Business Manager, the Director of Student Support Services, and Superintendent join this committee when they meet as the Leadership Team. The department chairpersons will be appointed by the District Administrator and Director of Instruction.
Responsibilities
To coordinate curriculum and programs within and across departments on a K-12 basis.
To help maintain district-wide identification and evaluation of programs while allowing for building level diversity.
To serve as the body that coordinates the textbook selection process.
To provide for direct and effective communication throughout the district on items related to the committee’s responsibilities.
To provide for communication to implement program revisions and changes.
To oversee the district’s curriculum at all levels and provide for direction in revising the curriculum.
The Systemwide committee is the responsibility of the Director of Instruction and is an advisory body to the Board of Education and its Curriculum Committee.
When meeting as the Leadership Team they are to discuss broader district issues and disseminate information.
