The Waunakee Community School District consolidates the major communication avenues with the school district to better coordinate and disseminate information to our stakeholders.
Our main goal is to develop and maintain external communication platforms that building relationships centered on trust and transparency with those we serve.
The department is responsible for organizing and managing all district communications and ensuring strategies are in alignment with our values and core beliefs as a school district. Additionally it is responsible for all media relations, internal and external communications, Waunakee Community School District website, school partnerships, district publications, and managing district social media accounts, etc.

Waunakee Community School District plays an integral role and is a staple in our Waunakee community. During the 2021-2022 school year, the Board of Education approved a year-long process to create a district visual brand. This process included a wide selection of community stakeholders, including students, staff, Board of Education members, parents, community members, etc. to gather input.
Visual branding is an important facet of an organization’s communication plan. To keep the integrity of the Waunakee Community School District and the district/high school visual brand, it is crucial to follow these guidelines when using visual elements. This will help strengthen our image, promote trust, and will allow us to represent ourselves as one team.
A brand includes our name, logo, and identifying elements including fonts, colors, and graphics. The logo is a visual representation that represents our brand.
The visual branding results enclosed in these district branding guidelines package are relevant for the Waunakee Community High School brand and the spirit/athletic/co-curricular programs of our school district. The correct guidelines should be followed with what you are producing or sharing with the community to represent our brand. Certain criteria must be met, and any and all entities that use the logo are subject to review and approval by the Waunakee Community School District.
With our high school brand, it is important that the district communicates to the community with a consistent, solid, and professional manner.

The Waunakee Community School District is proud to represent a strong tradition of excellence, unity, and school spirit. Our district brand is more than just a logo—it reflects who we are, what we value, and how we present ourselves to our students, families, and greater community.
To protect and strengthen this identity, all staff and stakeholders are required to submit any materials containing the Waunakee Community School District logo or the Waunakee Community High School logo for review and approval.
We ask that you submit this form at least 4-5 business days prior to when the materials are needed.
It is important to us to keep our school community informed. We offer weekly newsletters for our families that share important information work that is being done across the buildings and the district.

Infinite Campus
Each parent/guardian is granted a Parent Portal account for their children. The portal gives access to grades, assignment due dates, attendance, paying fees, paying food accounts, and more.
Email, Phone, or Text
Our families can choose to be contacted via email, phone, or text message. In addition to school messaging events, we we will contact you with school closures and emergencies situations. Please make sure your contact information is updated in Infinite Campus. Sign-up for district text alerts by sending a text message with the word "YES" or "Y" to the code 67587.
District social media accounts are maintained by the Communications & Engagement Specialist to inform and engage the Waunakee Community School District and Community. Social media posts occur at a minimum of once per day. Social media posts include, but are not limited to:

Relevant district information
Emergency and non-emergency school closures, early dismissals, delayed openings
Employment opportunities
District administrators, principals, department supervisors, teachers, coaches, and club advisors are encouraged to submit pictures/text monthly to provide transparency and engagement for our school community.
All district-related social media accounts must comply with FERPA, Copyright Laws, uphold the safety and security of all students, staff, and focus on branding while maintaining a positive image for Waunakee Community School District.
We do not promote fundraisers on our district social media channels.
The district will establish and maintain a positive rapport and open line of communication with press and news outlets.
When press releases are necessary, the Communications & Engagement Specialist will write press releases and post to the district website and in various forms of social media, when necessary.
The intentions of press releases are:
To provide transparent communication with community and the public
To highlight district accomplishments of students, staff, and families

Peachjar is an online flyer board. You will find flyers from our school district, your student’s school, and the community. It is a great way to ensure that our parents and guardians never miss a school flyer and for our community to share all the events that are happening. If you are a parent or guardian, you are automatically enrolled in a weekly Peachjar email that will come to your inbox on Fridays.
We often hear concerns that family members have not received emails sent from Waunakee Community School District via Infinite Campus or PeachJar, our two district contact databases. We have learned that some email providers flag messages from WCSD via Infinite Campus as "spam" and can block them from being delivered. This means that emails are sent successfully from us, but an email provider stops them from arriving in your inbox.
Tips and Tricks
Check your email spam's folder. If you find a message in spam, move it to your inbox. Some email programs also allow you to indicate it as "not spam".
It is very important to check your contact information in Infinite Campus to make sure your email address is correct and up-to-date, and you are subscribed to email notifications.
Open and read messages from WCSD. This allows your email program to notice that you want to receive messages from WCSD.
Add your child's teachers' email addresses to your email contact list.
Add wcsd_communications@waunakee.k12.wi.us to your email contact list.
