The Waunakee Community School District does not participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. Families may apply for free or reduced price meal benefits at any time during the school year.
Who May Qualify?
Students may qualify for free or reduced price meals if they:
- Live in a household that meets federal income guidelines.
- Receive FoodShare, FDPIR, or BadgerCare benefits (with current proof of benefits).
- Are a foster child under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court.
- Meet the federal definition of homeless, migrant, or runaway.
How to Apply
Complete one application per household each school year.

Do I need to apply every year?
Yes. Applications are only valid for one school year. A new application must be submitted annually.
Can I apply during the school year?
Yes. You may apply at any time if your household income changes or your family experiences financial hardship.
My family receives FoodShare. Are my children eligible?
Children in households receiving FoodShare may qualify for free meals with current proof of benefits. Please submit an application along with proof of eligibility to Taher Food Services.

Do I have to be a U.S. citizen to apply?
No. Citizenship or immigration status does not affect eligibility for free or reduced price meal benefits.
What if my income changes from month to month?
Report the income you normally receive before taxes (gross income). If your employment or income has recently changed, report your current income.
What if someone in my household has no income?
Enter "0" for any household member with no income.
Military Families
Basic pay and most cash allowances count as income. Housing provided through the Military Housing Privatization Initiative and combat pay received due to deployment are not included.
