The Waunakee Community School District and Lamers Bus Lines are introducing a new routing system called Traversa by Tyler Technologies. As part of this upgrade, families can use the MyRide K-12 app to track their student’s bus in real time and receive notifications about delays or route changes. This tool is designed to improve safety, convenience, and communication.

Accessing My Ride K-12 on a Computer

Step 1: Open the Website

1. Open the Google Chrome web browser.

2. Go to:
   https://myridek12.tylerapp.com

Step 2: Log In or Create an Account

If You Already Have an Account:

1. Select Log In.

2. Enter your email address and password.

3. Select Sign In.

If You Do Not Have an Account:

1. Select Sign Up.

2. Enter:

   • Your email address

   • A password

   • Your name

3. Submit the form.

4. Check your email for a confirmation message.

5. Select the confirmation link to activate your account.

Step 3: Select Your School District

1. After logging in, search for the name of your child’s school district.

2. Select your district from the list.

Step 4: Add a Student

1. Select Add Student.

2. Enter the Student ID provided by the school district.

3. Enter the school name.

4. Select Next.

5. Repeat these steps for additional students.

1. Select your child’s profile.

2. View:

Infinite Campus Transportation Instructions - English

Regular busing is defined as eligible students being picked up from home and taken to school and from school to home. All eligible students are automatically enrolled in regular transportation during the school year.

Services will begin on the first day of school, Monday September 1st, 2026 and continue until Wednesday, June 9, 2027.

There is no cost for this service for our families.

We are requesting your partnership regarding transportation for 2026-20247 school year.

If your family does not plan to use district-provided transportation, you may opt out.
Opting out helps us:

• Reduce unnecessary route scheduling

• Allocate transportation resources efficiently

• Improve service for families who need transportation

How to Opt Out

If you would like to opt out of the 2026-2027 transportation, please complete one of the following options by 

Option 1:
Submit the opt-out form in the Infinite Campus School Store. Available June 26th, 2026

Option 2:
Complete the online opt-out form:  OPT OUT 26-27 SCHOOL YEAR

Please only complete this form if your child needs alternate transportation to or from a daycare provider or babysitter.

If your child qualifies for regular bus transportation, they are automatically assigned transportation services based on the home address listed in Infinite Campus.

Late alternate transportation will open in Infinite Campus on August 17, 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.  Please allow up to two weeks from the start of school for the late requests to be implemented. 

Fee Schedule for Transportation To & From Babysitters Licensed Daycare
Policy #751 Exhibit

Waunakee Community School District

Parents/guardians of children in grades PreK-6 who would like their children to be transported by bus to and/or from a babysitter or licensed daycare center who lives beyond the 1.0 mile range, but within the District boundaries, shall be charged a fee as follows:

$125.00 per year per student – 1-way transportation
$250.00 per year per family – 1-way transportation
$250.00 per year per student - 2-way transportation
$500.00 per year per family - 2-way transportation

Parents/guardians of children in grades PreK-6 who would like their children to be transported by bus to and/or from a licensed daycare provider within the 1.0 mile range shall be charged based on the fee schedule listed above.

There will be no overloading of buses.

This service will be provided only as long as space is available on the bus.

Should the transporting of a student to a babysitter create an overload of a bus, this service will be discontinued and a pro-rated refund will be made to the parent/guardian.

For safety reasons, the district can only allow for one consistent pick-up point in the morning and one drop-off point in the afternoon. Two (2) parent/guardian households are each considered one (1) consistent pick-up/drop-off location. The district’s Executive Director of Operations may approve a second pick-up or drop-off point if it is consistent every week.

Alternate Transportation for Private School Students

The Waunakee Community School District does not provide alternate transportation for private school students who are non-residents of the district.

STUDENT TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AND POLICIES

The Waunakee Community School District will comply with all state regulations concerning the transportation of regular education students and students with disabilities. All transportation arrangements will be made by Lamers Bus Lines in coordination with the Waunakee Community School District.  

The Transportation handbook shall be distributed to all students, parents/guardians, teachers, school bus drivers, and school administrators to be used as a quick reference guide on transportation rules and guidelines. More specific information is found in Board of Education Policies (750’s) which are available at: https://www.waunakee.k12.wi.us/board/policies.

The Waunakee Community School District provides transportation for: 

1. Students attending Arboretum who reside more than 1.0 mile from school or east of Hwy 113. 
2. Students attending Prairie who reside more than 1.0 mile from school. 
3. Students attending Heritage  who reside north of Hwy 19, east of Hwy Q or more than 1.0 mile from Heritage (excluding Hwy 19/Q geographical area). 
4. Students attending the Intermediate School who reside north of Hwy 19, east of Hwy Q or more than 1.0 mile from the intersection of Aldora Lane and Woodland Drive.
5. The district shall provide transportation to students in grades 7 & 8 who live more than 1.0 miles from the intersection of Knightsbridge and South Street. 
6. The district shall provide transportation to students in grades 9-12 who live more than 1.75 miles from the intersection of Knightsbridge and South Street.  
7. Students who are placed in a special education program if the IEP team deems transportation necessary for the safety of the child. 
8. Students who participate in the Early Childhood or 4K program.

Consistent Transportation Requirements

To ensure student safety and transportation efficiency, the District may only approve:

• one (1) consistent morning pick-up location; and
• one (1) consistent afternoon drop-off location.

For students with two parent/guardian households, each household is considered one consistent transportation location.

The District’s Executive Director of Operations may approve a second pick-up or drop-off location if the schedule remains consistent each week. Varying day-to-day transportation schedules will not be permitted.

Shuttle Service

Beginning in Summer 2026, the shuttle system will be eliminated. Alternative transportation arrangements will still be available.

Each elementary school will have direct bus routes to approved alternative transportation locations, including District-approved licensed daycare providers.

Previously, some students were transported between elementary schools via shuttle routes before transferring to another bus to reach their final destination. The updated transportation model will:

• reduce student transfers between buses;
• simplify transportation routing; and
• provide more direct and efficient transportation for students.

These changes are intended to improve student safety, consistency, and overall transportation efficiency.

Section 1: Transportation Services and Eligibility

The Waunakee Community School District complies with all state regulations concerning transportation of students, including students with disabilities. Transportation services are coordinated with Lamers Bus Lines.

Eligibility for Transportation Services

The District provides transportation for:

• Students attending Arboretum who live more than 1.0 mile from school or east of Highway 113

• Students attending Prairie who live more than 1.0 mile from school

• Students attending Heritage who live north of Highway 19, east of Highway Q, or more than 1.0 mile from school

• Intermediate School students who live more than 1.75 miles from Aldora Lane and Woodland Drive

• Grades 7–8 students who live more than 1.75 miles from Knightsbridge and South Street

• Grades 9–12 students who live more than 1.75 miles from Knightsbridge and South Street

• Students whose IEP requires transportation

• Early Childhood and 4K students

School closing announcements are made through:

• Local radio and television stations

• District website

• District messaging system

• District social media

Announcements are typically made between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Section 3: Transportation Guidelines and Procedures

Bus Schedules

• Pick-up times are scheduled and consistent

• Buses arrive before the school day begins

• Buses arrive no earlier than 20 minutes before the first bell

Bus Stop Information

• Families receive route and stop information before school begins

• Information is mailed by Lamers Bus Lines

Student Responsibilities

• Arrive at bus stop at least five minutes early

• Remain at designated stops

• Follow driver instructions

Authorized Riders Only

• Only assigned students may ride

• Temporary changes require written approval

• Bus passes may be issued when approved

Pick-Up and Drop-Off Rules

• Students are picked up and dropped off only at approved stops

• Parents are responsible for student safety to and from stops

• Adult supervision is recommended for younger students

Bus Route Safety

• Buses do not enter private driveways

• Buses avoid unsafe areas

• Backing up is avoided unless authorized

Daycare Transportation Requests

• Requests must be submitted using the online form

• Requests must be submitted before routes are finalized

• Only two locations per student are permitted

• Fees may apply

• No refunds are provided after service begins

Section 4: Bus Conduct Rules

Transportation is considered part of the school day. Students must follow school behavior expectations.

Student Expectations

Students must:

• Ride assigned buses only

• Remain seated while the bus is moving

• Use appropriate language

• Keep hands, arms, and belongings inside the bus

• Respect drivers and other students

• Keep buses clean

Prohibited items include:

• Animals or insects

• Weapons or sharp objects

• Flammable materials

• Sprays and scented products

Minor Rule Violations

Examples include:

• Loud behavior

• Profanity

• Leaving seats

• Blocking aisles

• Littering

Consequences

• Verbal warning

• Assigned seating

• Possible suspension of riding privileges

Major Rule Violations

Examples include:

• Possession of drugs or alcohol

• Vandalism

• Possession of weapons

• Physical or verbal threats

• Interfering with bus operation

• Temporary or permanent suspension

Assigned Seating

Seating assignments are determined by the District and drivers based on grade level and safety needs. Seating charts are available upon request in accessible formats.

Bus Safety Zones

Students should remain at least 10 feet away from the bus when walking. Always cross in front of the bus when instructed by the driver. Never walk behind the bus.

District bus transportation is available for 4K students.  If you are requesting busing, the 4K site MUST be in your elementary attendance area (due to our three-building hub system).

Heritage Sites: Moppet and Peace Preschool

The district will transport 4K students using the elementary bus routes.  Students will travel to their attendance area elementary school where they will transfer to the 4K bus to be transported to their 4K site.  Mid-day transfers will occur at each elementary school.  Students will wear backpack bus tags to easily identify them to school staff assisting the children.

Students are required to purchase a Waunakee Community School District parking permit for the school year. This will be strictly enforced.

For the 2026-2027 school year, students in grades 11 and 12 will have the opportunity to purchase a parking permit through Infinite Campus School Store beginning August 21. Students in grade 10 may purchase a parking permit beginning in September. Complete information will be shared in the August Back to School information from the High School office.

Students must have a parking permit to park in the student lots, and they may not park in staff parking (number spots) or visitor parking at any time.  Parking permits will be available for all students to purchase through the Infinite Campus School Store. Please follow this step-by-step video to complete your parking pass request through Campus School Store. The permits can be picked up in the high school office.

The Waunakee Community High School does not offer a Driver Education Course as electives. There are several local driving schools that offer programs.
